COVID-19 Updated Guidelines

COVID-19 Update: July 19th lockdown measures review

To Plymouth Chapter UK HOG Members

Following on from the announcement made this week by the Prime Minister, there will be an easing of legal requirements concerning Covid-19 safety measures in England from Monday 19th July. However, government advice still states that certain measures should remain in place where possible in order to help reduce the transmission of the virus, and in particular the new Delta variant which is so much more highly transmissible. Government guidance also encourages all adults over the age of 18 years old to get the vaccine to help reduce the effects of Covid-19 should you get infected and help ease the pressure on the NHS in the event of a severe case of Covid-19.Locally, the Covid-19 cases in the Plymouth and Devon regions are amongst the highest in England and case numbers are rising rapidly. As such, we will have to carry out our own risk assessment and make changes to our guidance and safety protocols where applicable in order to continue weekly Ride outs and once again hold our Quarterly Social Meetings at our usual venue, The Hunting Lodge, Ivybridge.

What does this mean for Plymouth Chapter?

The following applies to Plymouth Chapter Covid-19 protocols and are based on a “regional Covid-19 cases position” risk assessment and reviewed every 4 weeks, with any changes communicated to all Chapter members at that time. Guidelines will also be reviewed if government guidance changes at any time.

  • Face coverings– face coverings will be a personal preference and can be relaxed in all external areas and internal in accordance with any venue we are at. i.e.: PH-D and the Hunting Lodge.
  • Social distancing– we are encouraging members to maintain social distancing of 1+ meters indoors, some members may wish to maintain a greater distance for the foreseeable future. Please respect their wishes.

Any Chapter member who wishes to continue to wear a face covering and maintain social distancing in accordance with the COVID protocols which were in place prior to July 19th will be fully supported by the Chapter and all of its members.

Lateral Flow Testing at Home
As a reminder, you can order LFT’s to be delivered directly to your home. If you go to the following link on the government website and enter your details, then you can order a pack of 7 tests to be sent to your house. https://www.gov.uk/order-coronavirus-rapid-lateral-flow-tests
You can also collect LFTs from a local pharmacy or from a local testing site. For details on participating pharmacies & test centers, you can click on the above link, enter your postcode and the list of where to collect from will be provided.
It is imperative that everyone tests regularly as we must all play our part in helping reduce the transmission of the virus.

Symptoms & Coming to Plymouth Chapter events

As a further reminder, it is vital that no member comes onto any Plymouth Chapter Ride out or attends an event if they are experiencing any Covid-19 symptoms at all. The following are considered to be main symptoms of Covid-19: (most people with coronavirus have at least 1 of these symptoms).

  • A high temperature – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)
  • A new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)
  • A loss or change to your sense of smell or taste – this means you’ve noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal

There are other documented symptoms of this virus, especially for the new variants, so please look at www.nhs.uk for any medical advice or call 111 if you have any concerns. If you think you may have Covid-19 then please call 119 to book a test at your nearest test center or go to the Government website https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test  to book your test online.
